A: The changes launch April 5, 2025. The first draw under these changes is April 8, 2025.

A: Yes, one play for Mega Millions now costs $5.
Q: Is the matrix changing?
A: Yes, Mega Millions is changing to a new matrix. Players will still select five different numbers from 1 to 70 (white balls), but will now choose one number from 1 to 24 instead of 25 (gold ball).
Q: Does the new Mega Millions have an option to add Megaplier?
A: No. The increased price includes a built-in multiplier! Each play will have an automatically generated multiplier that can be 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, or 10X! Multipliers are for non-jackpot prizes only.
Q: How does this change affect the jackpot?
A: The Mega Millions starting jackpot is now $50 million, increased from $20 million. This means bigger jackpots more frequently.
Q: Are the prizes changing?
A: Yes, winning tickets now have a minimum win of $10, which is double the purchase price! There are also better secondary prizes locally at all levels.
